Let customers pay invoices online with Tap
Once your business's Tap secret key is connected in Naffes CRM, every invoice page you send carries a Pay now button. The customer pays on Tap's page, the money settles straight into your own Tap account without passing through Naffes, and the payment is recorded on the invoice the moment it succeeds.
What you need
- A Tap Payments merchant account and its secret key. Test-mode keys start with sk_test_ and live keys with sk_live_; each mode has its own key.
- Permission to manage invoices in Naffes. Customer invoicing works on every plan, including Free.
Steps
Open invoice settings
Go to Settings → Records & Fields → Modules → Invoices and scroll to Online payment of invoices.
Switch it on and add the key
Turn the switch on, paste the secret key into Your Tap secret key, and click Save. The key is stored encrypted, and the field then reads Saved — type a new key to change it.
Issue the invoice
Under Invoices (/invoices), create a New invoice or open the draft created automatically when a customer accepted a quote, then click Issue invoice. Issuing emails it to the customer, and Email to customer sends it again.
Share the link if needed
Click Copy link to copy the public invoice page (/i/…) and send it over WhatsApp or any other channel.
The customer pays
The customer opens the page, clicks Pay now and completes payment on Tap's page. The payment posts to the invoice automatically, exactly once, and never for more than the balance due.
Start with an sk_test_ key and pay a test invoice yourself, then replace it with the sk_live_ key before sending real invoices.
After payment: automate the follow-up
Every successful payment fires workflow triggers, so you can, for example:
- On Payment received, send Notify people in the app to the finance team.
- On Invoice paid in full, move the deal to delivery or create a handover task.
- On Invoice fell overdue, alert the invoice owner, since the system does not remind the customer on its own.

Troubleshooting
- A secret key starts with sk_live_ or sk_test_: you pasted the public key (pk_) or a truncated value. A public key cannot create charges.
- You switched payments on but it did not stick: online payment stays off without a saved secret key; enter the key, then save.
- The customer sees no pay button: make sure the invoice is issued rather than a draft, and still has a balance due.
- The customer paid by bank transfer: record it by hand with Record payment; each payment has a printable Payment receipt.
