Majlis: your team's chat and calls, inside the CRM
Majlis is the internal chat built into Naffes CRM: direct messages, groups, an automatic company-wide group, voice and video calls, files and voice notes, with deals and tasks attached right inside a message. Your team does not need a separate chat app to coordinate work on customers.
Why team chat belongs next to the customer data
In many sales teams, internal coordination runs through personal WhatsApp groups. The manager asks about a deal, the rep answers with a screenshot, operations sends the contract file. Customer data ends up mixed with personal chats, nobody can find where a deal was discussed, and the context walks out the door when people change roles.
Majlis moves that conversation into Naffes. Messages sit next to the records they are about, a deal or contact can be dropped into a message as a card a colleague opens in one click, and message retention follows a policy the workspace admin sets. Customer conversations stay in the inbox; conversations between teammates happen in Majlis.
How Majlis works
Majlis opens as a panel in the corner of whatever page you are on, or as a full page when you need more room. Cmd/Ctrl+J brings it up. Conversations are split into All, Direct and Groups tabs, with search across people, conversations and messages.
- Direct messages: start one from a colleague's picture.
- Groups: create a New group for the sales team or for a key account. Group names can be set in Arabic and English, and each member sees the name in their own language.
- Company group: an automatic group with every member of the workspace. It can be made announcement-only, so only workspace admins post there.
- Support channel: a Talk to support conversation with the platform's verified account, for questions to the Naffes team without leaving the app.
Notifications are set per conversation: Every message, Only when I'm mentioned, or None. The big company group only interrupts you when someone mentions you, while a thread with your manager can ping on every message.
What you can do in a conversation
- Reply to a specific message, react, and edit or delete your own messages; a deleted message leaves a line saying it was deleted.
- Attach files and pictures, and record voice notes that are transcribed automatically, so they can be read in a quiet room and found by search.
- Mention a colleague with @, see typing indicators, and see presence: online, away or offline.
- Search that folds the different ways Arabic is written: hamza forms of alef, taa marbuta and haa, alef maqsura and yaa, and diacritics. A search for a hospital name finds the message even if it was typed with a different spelling.
- What you missed: back from leave or a long meeting, you get the unread lines from each conversation, with a short AI summary when the workspace has the assistant.
Slash commands put the CRM in the message
Type / at the start of a message to open the command menu. The command text itself is never posted to the chat: a record you pick is pinned to the next message you send. Commands also have Arabic names for teams who write in Arabic. You can only attach records you are allowed to see, and the card keeps a snapshot of the title and key details, so a colleague without access to that record still understands what was meant.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/deal | Searches for a deal and attaches its card |
/contact | Attaches a contact |
/company | Attaches a company |
/lead | Attaches a lead |
/task | Attaches a task; /task new followed by a title creates one |
/todo | Creates a task for you and attaches it |
/call | Starts a voice call |
/video | Starts a video call |
/summary | Asks the assistant to summarise the conversation |
In practice: a sales manager types /deal Al Noor in the team group, picks the deal from the menu, then writes “Who is on this? They have been waiting for the proposal since Sunday.” The message goes out with the deal card attached. The rep opens the deal from the card, types /task new send revised proposal to create the task, and sends a short reply with the task attached.
Voice and video calls
From any direct message or group you can start a Voice call or a Video call, and every member of the conversation is rung. Calls run in the browser on the Agora engine, and people can join or return to a call while it is live.
| Plan | Participant-minutes per month |
|---|---|
| Free | Calls not included |
| Starter | 500 |
| Pro | 2,000 |
| Enterprise | No cap |
Minutes are counted per participant: a 10-minute call between three people uses 30 minutes of the pool. Calls need the workspace's own Agora keys, the same keys that power video meeting rooms. Majlis calls are not recorded; when you need a recording and transcript, hold the conversation in a meeting room instead.
Privacy, retention and admin controls
- Retention: the admin decides how long messages are kept. They are deleted automatically after the set number of days, or kept for as long as the workspace exists, and members see the policy inside Majlis.
- Privacy: workspace admins cannot read private conversations from the app.
- Audited export: when there is a legal need, an admin can export the archive, and the export is recorded in the audit log.
- Settings: Settings > Automation > Majlis holds the company group, retention and export controls.
Limits and what to expect
- The Naffes team switches Majlis on per workspace. If you do not see it in yours, ask support to enable it.
- Calls are available on paid plans only, within the monthly minute pool, and need the workspace's Agora keys.
- Calls are not recorded.
- What you missed summaries and the summary command depend on the AI assistant being available to the workspace.
- Majlis is built for conversations between members of the workspace. Customer conversations belong in the inbox, and customer calls in meeting rooms.
Questions
Questions 4
Can Majlis replace our WhatsApp groups or a separate chat app?
For internal coordination, yes: direct messages, groups, a company group, calls, files and voice notes, and because Majlis is part of the CRM itself, you can attach the actual deal or task to a message. Customer conversations stay in the inbox.
Can admins read private messages?
Not from the app. Admins set retention and can export the archive for a legal purpose, and every export is recorded in the audit log.
How many call minutes do we get?
500 participant-minutes a month on Starter, 2,000 on Pro, and no cap on Enterprise. The Free plan does not include calls.
How is Majlis different from notes on a record?
A note is written on a deal or contact and stays on that record, and anyone you @mention is notified. Majlis is a conversation between colleagues, where the record itself can be attached as a card.
